The 14th edition of the Festival International du Film d’Archéologie (FIFAN) will be held in Nyon, Switzerland, from 2 to 7 September 2025.
ARTICLE I – Aims
The aim of the festival is to bring archaeology to the general public through the medium of film. Its role is to promote this medium by rewarding the bests recent archaeological films and immersive experiences.
ARTICLE II – Organisation
The festival is organized by the Association du Festival International du Film d’Archéologie de Nyon and the Roman Museum of Nyon.
ARTICLE III – Participation
The festival is open to all recent films and immersive experiences with an archaeological or ancient history theme.
The programme will be chosen on the basis of archaeological, scientific, ethical, narrative and cinematographic criteria.
The films and immersive experiences selected take part in the competition.
ARTICLE IV – Competition
The selected films and immersive experiences will take part in the public screening and in the competition for one of the prizes.
French is the language of the Festival. Subtitling of the films will be provided if necessary. In this case, the full text (commentaries, interviews, subtitles, etc.) must be sent.
ARTICLE V – Jury
To evaluate the films, the jury will be made up of 5 people, including 2 archaeologists and 2 audiovisual professionals. It will evaluate the scientific validity of the information contained in the films and the way in which it is processed.

A special prize, the Prix des gymnasiens will be awarded by the students of the high school in Nyon.
The jury may also award special mentions if it deems necessar
To evaluate the immersive experiences, the jury, made up of 5 people including 3 experts in immersive experiences and audiovisual creation, will assess the projects’ ability to offer an engaging and immersive experience.
The winners will be entitled to mention ‘Awarded at the International Archaeology Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland’ in their credits.
ARTICLE VI – Application
To participate in the Festival selection, directors and creators must apply by completing the form on the fifan.ch website. Entries must reach us by 30 April 2025 at the latest.
If a teaser of the film exists, please send us a file of it for the promotion of the festival programme.
The productions received for the festival, unless otherwise agreed with the producer, will remain in the festival archives.
Extracts from selected films may be broadcast on in-house social networks (Facebook, Linkedln, Instagram, Fifan.ch website) or during any television programmes about the festival.
Selected films may be shown at decentralized non-profit events dealing with archaeological films (museums, archaeological or historical societies, schools, etc.).
