Competition and prizes

The Festival international du film d'archéologie de Nyon (FIFAN) supports and promotes audiovisual productions that enable people to discover archaeology in a different way. Each film is selected on the basis of a careful assessment of its scientific quality, the rigor of its sources, the clarity of its content and its ability to convey archaeological knowledge in an accessible and structured way.
The official competition rewards the most outstanding works, from large-scale productions to low-budget films. It is run by a jury of experts: archaeologists, filmmakers, producers, journalists and cultural professionals. This diversity guarantees a balanced assessment of scientific requirements, production quality and the relevance of the subjects tackled. Each edition brings together committed personalities capable of taking a sensitive, critical look at the productions in competition.
The 2025 edition of FIFAN inaugurates a new prize dedicated to immersive experiences. Through works in virtual or extended reality, the public will be able to explore sites, objects and stories from the past in a new way. The Public Prize will be awarded for the best immersive experience.
