Regulation 2025
The 14th edition of the Festival International du Film d'Archéologie de Nyon (FIFAN) will take place in Nyon (Switzerland) from September 2 to 7, 2025.
ARTICLE I - Aims
The festival aims to bring archaeology to the general public through film. Its role is to promote this medium by rewarding the best recent archaeological films and immersive experiences.
ARTICLE II - Organization
The festival is organized by the Association du Festival International du Film d'Archéologie de Nyon and the Musée romain de Nyon.
ARTICLE III - Participation
The festival is open to all recent films and immersive experiences with an archaeological or ancient history theme.
The choice of programming is based on archaeological, scientific, ethical, narrative and cinematographic criteria.
Selected films and immersive experiences take part in the competition.
ARTICLE IV - Competition
Selected films and immersive experiences take part in the public screening and in the competition for one of the prizes.
French is the language of the Festival. Subtitling of films is provided if necessary. In this case, the complete text (commentaries, interviews, subtitles, etc.) must be sent.
ARTICLE V - Jury
To judge the films, the jury will be made up of 5 people, including 2 archaeologists and 2 audiovisual professionals. They will judge the scientific validity of the information contained in the films, and the way in which it is processed.
It will award the following prizes:
- Best Scientific Film Award
- Award for Best Low-Budget Film
- Festival Jury Prize
- The Audience Award
A special prize, the Prix des gymnasiens, will be awarded by students from the Gymnase de Nyon.
The jury may also award special mentions if deemed necessary.
To judge the immersive experiences, the 5-person jury, including 3 experts in immersive experiences and audiovisual creation, will assess the projects' ability to deliver an engaging, immersive experience.
Prizes will be awarded to the best immersive productions.
Winners may mention in their credits: "Awarded at the Festival International du Film d'Archéologie de Nyon, Switzerland".
ARTICLE VI - Application
To participate in the festival selection, directors and designers must submit an application by filling out the form on the website. fifan.ch. Entries must be received no later than April 30, 2025.
If a teaser of the film exists, we'd be grateful if you'd send us a file to promote the festival program.
Productions received for selection, unless otherwise agreed with the producer, will remain in the festival archives.
Excerpts from the selected films may be broadcast on in-house social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Fifan.ch website) or during any television programs featuring the festival.
Selected films may be shown at decentralized non-profit events dealing with archaeological films (museums, archaeological or historical societies, schools, etc.).
