And life wasn't easy for the occupants of the Roman forts set up on the passes and peaks close to the eternal snows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Romain Andenmatten<\/strong> is an archaeologist and scientific manager at the Office cantonal d'arch\u00e9ologie du Valais (OCA).
