Summary<\/em> What is the common ancestor of man and ape, how did they originally differentiate and what were the biological processes involved?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Jean Chaline, CNRS Research Director at the University of Burgundy, proposes a new way of looking at the beginnings of mankind, a theory he has developed as part of a team. To consider man as king of the apes is to speak of a human paradox.
Indeed, from a genetic point of view, the difference between man and monkey is only 1%, but from a morphological point of view it increases to 50 or even 60%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jury particularly appreciated the scientific rigor of this film. The audience was also impressed, ranking it 2nd behind the Audience Award winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AWARD FOR BEST LOW-BUDGET FILM :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\"Amphoralis, the secret of Gallo-Roman potters<\/strong>France, 26', directed by Marc Az\u00e9ma<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summary<\/em> : This film is a wonderful way of introducing the general public to an exceptional archaeological site. It is also, and above all, an opportunity to follow a major event in archaeological research: a Gallo-Roman kiln is to be rebuilt identically near the site and will be the subject of an experimental firing of hundreds of pots directed by one of the greatest potters of our time, Pierre Bayle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ambitious project is the pivotal point of the documentary. It's a real archaeological adventure, full of suspense and rich in lessons, in which the participants rediscover gestures and sensations forgotten for almost twenty centuries. The curator, archaeologist, architect, potters and volunteers take it in turns to comment on the progress of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jury rewarded the quality of the filmmaker's monitoring of the entire scientific experiment, as well as the public's involvement in what could have remained an experiment carried out behind closed doors by researchers alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
