Located in the Rhône Valley, the Grotte Mandrin is the subject of a fascinating archaeological investigation. Excavations carried out by Ludovic Slimak have unearthed numerous fossils and flints, attesting to a Neanderthal presence dating back more than 80,000 years, as well as the arrival of the first Homo Sapiens in Western Europe 54,000 years ago. These remains reveal a meeting between Neanderthals and Sapiens! After 25 years of investigation, Ludovic Slimak revises the scenario of Neanderthal extinction and its replacement by Sapiens. The Grotte Mandrin sheds new light on this key moment in our history.
