1912, Touraine. François d'Achon discovers the oldest decorated cave in Europe. A century later, archaeologists and prehistorians are working together to understand the origin of the rock drawings on its walls and to decipher their mysteries. According to their estimates, the tracings are over 60,000 years old, twice as old as the earliest remains of rock art studied to date. This investigation could revolutionize the history of cave art. It therefore originates from the Neanderthal era, and not from the time of Homo sapiens, as has long been thought.
This documentary takes us to the sources of creation, in the footsteps of mankind's first artist, presenting a fascinating investigation in which specialists unearth genuine prehistoric treasures, using cutting-edge technology.
