This immersive experience invites the public to discover the temple of Baalshamîn, destroyed in 2015, in Palmyra (Syria).
The visible reconstructions are based on the work of Swiss archaeologist Paul Collart in the 1950s. The sanctuary (temple, courtyards, tombs and Islamic remains) can be visited through time and space. Restored on the basis of archaeological discoveries, the experience does not offer a reconstruction of the monuments as they were in antiquity, but a visualization of the archaeological remains belonging to the different periods of occupation of the site. Archival documents are accessible within the experience, guaranteeing transparency and rigor, in line with international standards for digital restitution.
Presented in partnership with Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) and Virtual Switzerland.
